Summary

  • We are conducting a study for participants with heart failure or potential risk factors and symptoms which relate to heart health aged 30 to 85 (inclusive).
  • We will conduct a number of clinical tests and gather your perspectives and preferences on routine diagnostic procedures. Your participation and feedback could support creation of a new diagnostic tool.
  • You will have the opportunity to gain insight into the processes involved in conducting a typical heart failure study.
  • You will be reimbursed for your time and effort in this study.
  • You may become eligible to join future heart failure trials.

If you are interested in participating in this observational study:

  • You will need to attend an in-person visit in which we will perform clinical tests. For example, we will take blood, measure your vital signs, check the activity of your heart and carry out a physical examination. These tests can be done over several days, if needed.
  • You will have a follow-up telephone call after the initial visit to discuss the results of the clinical tests.
  • You may be invited to attend follow-up visits at 6, 12 and 18 months as judged by the doctor. These visits will have tests similar to those done during the first visit. We may also gather your perspectives and preferences regarding undergoing routine clinical diagnostics via a questionnaire.
  • This means that the whole study may take approximately 18 months, and in total, you may need to come to the unit at least 4 times.
  • We may contact you on an unscheduled basis to update you on new heart failure research studies.

Who can take part?

We will check your suitability for the clinical trial using the following criteria:-

  • You are aged between 30 to 85 years (inclusive).
  • You have been diagnosed with heart failure or potential risk factors and symptoms which relate to heart health or other medical conditions that may increase your risk of having heart failure.
  • You must be able and willing to provide informed consent.
  • You must be willing and able to comply with study requirements.

A full list of do’s and don’ts will be given to you by a member of our recruitment team if you are interested.
