Summary
- We are conducting a study for participants with known or suspected alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD), aged 18 to 75 (inclusive), who are interested in participating in future clinical trials related to AATD.
- The study includes a tour of the clinical trial unit and several health assessments to check your current health. It aims to give you the chance to familiarise with the trial unit, have health checks, to confirm AATD diagnosis and assess suitability for future AATD-related trials.
- You will be reimbursed for your time.
If you are interested in participating in this participant engagement study:
- You will need to attend an in-person visit, where you will be given an overview of the study and asked to provide informed consent. Afterwards, you will be given a tour of the trial unit and undergo a series of clinical tests and procedures to establish your baseline health status. The tests can be spread over multiple days (if required).
- During your in-person visit, we will carry out several health checks, including blood tests, heart check, liver scan, lung tests, and a physical examination. If available, you will also receive a printed participant information sheet for an upcoming AATD-related RNA-editing clinical trial to take home.
- You will have a Telephone Follow-Up call with the Study Doctor approximately 3 weeks after the in-person visit.
- This means the whole process takes approximately 3 weeks. In total, you will come to the trial unit at least once.
Who can take part?
We will check your suitability for the study using the following criteria:
- You are aged between 18 to 75 years (inclusive).
- You must have or be suspected to have alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD).
- You must be able and willing to provide informed consent, and to comply with study tests and procedures.
A full list of do’s and don’ts will be given to you by a member of our recruitment team if you are interested.
