This clinical trial will study an investigational drug that could be used to help prevent the formation of harmful blood clots (thromboembolic disease).
By taking part, you could help to improve current treatment options.

What taking part in this study involves

This trial will help us collect information about the safety and tolerability of the investigational drug, how long it stays in your body, and how it affects your body.

  • You will need to attend a screening appointment so we can check if you are suitable to take part in the trial. At the appointment, we will perform several assessments, including taking blood, checking your heart function, and carrying out a physical examination. Screening will be carried out over one day, but it may be held across multiple days if necessary
  • The trial involves an in-house stay at our London Bridge unit of approximately 4 days/ 3 nights. While you are on the unit, you will receive a single injection of the study drug
  • After your stay with us, you will be required to come back to the unit for at least 12 follow-up visits. From your screening appointment through to your final visit, the whole process may take approximately 13 months. In total, you may need to visit the unit 16 times

Who can take part?

You may be eligible for this clinical trial if:

  • You are between 18-60 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with Factor V Leiden (FVL) or Prothrombin G20210A mutations (variations in your genes that increase the risk of blood clot formation)
  • You weigh over 50kg and your BMI is between 18 and 25 kg/m2
  • You don’t have a known history of bleeding or spontaneous bleeding
  • You haven’t had major surgery within 6 months before your screening appointment

Please note there are additional study criteria. A full list will be given to you by a member of our recruitment team if you are interested.

You could receive up to £5,025

You will be paid £5,025 on completion of the clinical trial, provided you comply fully with all the clinical trial requirements. This amount will be adjusted pro-rata if we invite you to attend extra visits.
