About this trial

  • We are conducting a participant engagement study for adults with chronic respiratory diseases, such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease (ILD), and Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (AATD).
  • The purpose of this study is to give you the opportunity to visit our research clinic and meet the research team, and become familiar with the research environment.
  • We will carry out health checks to better understand your current health. The information collected will help us improve our understanding of chronic respiratory diseases and may help identify people who would benefit from further clinical assessment.
  • We may also tell you about future research studies that could be suitable for you. You will be under no obligation to take part in any future study.
  • You will receive reimbursement for your time if you take part in this participant engagement study.

Who can take part?

We will check your suitability for the participant engagement study using the following key criteria:

  • You are male or female aged 18 years or above.
  • You have been diagnosed with, or are suspected of having, a chronic respiratory disease.
  • You are willing and able to provide informed consent.
  • You are willing and able to comply with study assessments and procedures.
  • You do not have any medical condition that, in the opinion of the Study Doctor, would make participation unsafe or affect the study results.

A full list of do’s and don’ts will be given to you by a member of our recruitment team if you are interested.

What does participation require?

If you are interested in participating in the study:

  • You will attend a Participant Engagement Visit (Day 1), where the study will be explained to you and you will be asked to provide informed consent.
  • During this visit, you will receive a tour of the clinical trials unit and undergo health assessments, which may include vital signs, blood samples and medical history review.
  • We may also tell you about future research studies that could be suitable for you. You will be under no obligation to take part in any future study.
  • Approximately 3 weeks after Day 1, you will attend a follow-up visit (in person or by telephone) to discuss your results and ask any questions you may have.
  • The study will last approximately 5 weeks.
  • You will attend the clinical research unit for at least one in-person visit.
