Clinical trial summary
We are conducting a clinical study to understand how a new investigational medicine may in future help people with Metabolic Dysfunction Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH). In this clinical study, we are recruiting healthy male and female participants aged 18 to 55 years (inclusive).
We will see if this new investigational medicine is safe and how well your body tolerates it. We will also see how your body processes the new investigational medicine, how long it stays in your body, and what effect it has on you.
You will be paid for your time if you take part in this clinical study.
If you are interested in taking part in the study:-
Part A:
- You will need to attend a screening appointment so we can check if you are suitable to take part in the study. At this appointment we will take blood, check your heart and carry out a physical examination.
- If results from your screening appointment show you are suitable for the study, you will be invited to take part.
- This will involve a stay of 4 days/3 nights in our study unit.
- During your stay with us you will receive a single injection under the skin of either the new investigational medicine or a dummy (placebo) treatment. We will conduct a number of assessments (like those we did at screening) to check how safe and tolerable the investigational medicine is, how long the drug remains in your body, and how your body processes it.
Who can take part?
You may be eligible to take part in this clinical study if you:
- Are aged between 18 - 55 years (inclusive).
- Weigh over 50 kg and have a body mass index (BMI) of ≥18 to <30 kg/m2.
- Are generally in good health based on screening examination, including medical history, physical examination, blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, respiratory rate, ECG assessment, urine and blood results.
- Agree to comply with contraception requirements of the study.
- Agree not to donate egg/sperm during participation in the study.
Please note there are additional study criteria. A full list of do’s and don’ts will be given to you by a member of our recruitment team if you are interested.
Clinical trial payment
Participation is entirely voluntary, and you may withdraw from the study at any time without giving a reason. In recognition of the time involved in taking part in the study, you will receive £2,975 (£2,082.50 clinical study payment and £892.50 bonus) on completion of the clinical study, provided you comply fully with all the clinical study requirements. This amount is based on the anticipated clinical study plan and will be adjusted pro-rata (i.e. same amount of money paid per unit of time), should we invite you to attend extra visits.
Dates
The trial will require in-house stays of 4 days / 3 nights. After your stay with us you will be required to return for further scheduled appointments on Week 2, Week 4, Week 8, Week 12 and Week 16 of the study. You may need to attend additional follow up visits. This means the whole process may take approximately 20 weeks (about 5 months) from your screening visit through to your final visit.
In total, if you are included in the clinical study you may come to the study unit around 7 times.
Please call a recruitment team member on 020 7042 5802 to discuss study dates, or register to receive a call back.
